We recently made a very special retro board of limited appeal to older surfers who are collectors of high quality craftsmanship. It is the Gary Burden Classic 9'8'' stringerless and we put our "Tsunami" silk art on it. This model is a classic because it was the final evolution of longboard design in Australia immediately before boards went short and it's "slingshot" feature of flexing board and fin in bottom turns was forgotten in the rush to adapt shapes to the shorter boards. I am looking for people who might be interested in this board, it has stayed true to the construction of the period and is AU$1,550 with the Tsunami artwork on it at Byron Bay, shipping is extra. The other artworks in our range are AU$220 less on this board.
![]() The marketing angle of In Depth Creations Surfboards is that they are functional art, designed to be ridden and then put back up on the living room wall after a surf instead being left in a bag or in the garage. Interested collectors should drop a line to Brian at www.indepthcreations.com.au with their details. Brian Delaney

Here is a link to some pics and an interview with Shane about his experience with a killer wave at Tahiti in September this year. www.surfline.com/surfnews/2005_09_13_tahiti_dorian Note: if you only have dial up it will be very slow to load each picture as the sound file (Shane describing what went through his mind at that point) comes with it. Pretty awesome stuff. A real legend! Thanks to Surfline

Alfred Shaheen was the most creative and prolific of all of the Hawaiian manufacturers in the heyday of ‘50s and ‘60s fashion. Shaheen’s textile designs and fabrics are legendary and were inspired by Hawaii, the South Pacific and Asia. During pre-statehood Hawaii – a critical time in Hawaii’s economic development – Alfred Shaheen built the most comprehensive textile printing, garment manufacturing and retail company Hawaii would ever see. Stretching beyond the limits imposed on him by the isolation of the Hawaiian Islands, Shaheen literally pioneered Hawaii’s vital garment manufacturing industry by engineering and building his own textile printing machinery, developing innovative textile printing techniques and revolutionary dyes, and by combining all facets of garment creation under one roof in his own production facility. Shaheen’s vision, inventiveness, engineering brilliance and unreserved commitment to authenticity and excellence earned him Hawaii's Lifetime Achievement Award in July of 2001. New Helmet Launched That Allows Water-Skiers Instant Instruction From Coach To Athlete Tuncurry, Australia, September 2005 . A new coaching system ‘HEADZONE’ enables water-skiers to hear their coach at the precise moment they need instruction. This unique helmet helps accelerate the learning process by enabling instant communication from coach to athlete. The Coaching System, designed by Mark Ellis a Professional Water-ski Coach and inventor, and produced by HEADZONE, is specifically designed for water sports, and is 100% waterproof. Communication is the key to learning quickly and correctly, especially when it comes to action sports where good timing and technique is essential. The fully waterproof range of HEADZONE helmets can help achieve better results faster by offering instant communication from the coach to athlete. The HEADZONE Helmet eliminates stop and start coaching allowing efficient use of time, and thus more students can be coached per hour. In addition to being waterproof the helmets other key features are built-in speakers, basic unit has 16 channels, custom channel selections available upon request, and a range of up to 3km. Mark Ellis, Professional Water-ski Coach and designer of HEADZONE comments: ‘As a coach it is important to be able to relay knowledge clearly without any misunderstanding to the student or athlete to achieve the highest results while increasing their ability. My goal has been to do this and at the same time protect my student’s safety. To coach people on when to ‘think tough’, when to change their body position, how to react, and ‘feel the rhythm’. If I could guide them and instruct them instantly they would change and experience improvement like never before. I wanted to give instruction and have it turn to action, without confusion or thinking. The coaching then becomes their own thoughts on how, when, and where to be strong or smooth. I would be able to coach every step of the way. When you're in the zone, you're at your best. ’ More information about HEADZONE Helmets can be found at www.headzone.com.au or by calling +61 (0)2 65 555 575 or download a brochure (634k PDF) Orders can be made on- line, by phone or by emailing info@headzone.com.au For further information:
