Flowboard Australia - Carve the streets like never before

Surf without waves, Ride without snow. Flowboard set out to create an experience that replicates snow boarding or wave riding on the street. Our quest. . . . what goes in between the board and the road? Years of experimentation in The Lab have resulted in The Deep Carve System.

We discovered the geometry that allows a device with no moving parts to recreate the flow of both snow boarding and surfing- Pure geometry that lets you carve to 45 degree angles with no resistance and smooth, fluid transitions edge to edge. Whether you're riding downhill or just cruising around, the patented 14 wheeled Deep Carve System (DCS) allows you to carve with the rhythm and flow of snow boarding and surfing Flowboard- Manufacturing The Flow.

Simple adjustments allow you to create the ride that fits your flow. Unlike typical skate trucks, which can be tightened or loosened, Flowboard lets you set the board's turning radius from tight sidewalk S-turns to big drawn out lines. For even more realism, angle one "truck" more than the other; Ride in one direction and it behaves like a snow board (the back of the board leads the turns); Ride in the other direction and it behaves like a surfboard (the front of the board leads the turns).

"Sharing the Stoke of Surfing"

Santa Monica, CA

What:

The Groundswell Society’s Third Annual Surfing Arts, Science and Issues Conference, Benefit Concert and Sunday morning program.

With surfing going through the mainstream roof and contests being sponsored by corporations who see them as “target-rich environments”, our theme for SASIC 3, developed by the Groundswell Board last year, seems eerily prescient. “The Price of Surfing” has stirred up a lot of thinking since we first announced the topic, and we are happy to say that we’ve assembled an unreal lineup of speakers for what has become the surf community’s unsanctioned annual sounding board.

Issues:

Shop ‘Til You Drop – Women and Surfing’s Consumerism – Jericho Poppler Bartlow and Panel
Surfing For Sale – Panel Discussion moderated by Steve Barilotti, Surfer Magazine
A Surfer’s Commitment – Shaun Tomson, Pro Surfer/Solitude Clothing
Surfing and Stress – Gunter Swoboda and Tom Linker, Australian and Hawaiian Educators
Surfing and Adulthood – Ken Otter, Bay Area management consultant

Arts:

The Making of Step Into Liquid*
Modern Surfing and Dante’s Inferno – Sandow Birk, artist and Marcus Sanders, surf journalist
Surfing and Sculpture – Richard Jordan, Sculptor
The Future of Surfing Collectibles – Patrick Moser, author and educator

Science:

The Real Costs of Surfing Reefs – Dave Skelly, Coastal Engineer, Designer of Pratte’s Reef
Building Surfboards – Real Costs Above and Below the Line – Giles Pettifor and Marco
Gonzalez, UCSB Environmental Scientist and Surfrider SD Member
Costs and Benefits of Surfing Tourism – Chad Nelson, Surfrider Foundation
The Costs of Predicting Surf – Sean Collins, Surfline.com

Plenary Session - The Surf Industry – Fernando Aguerre, Co-founder of Reef

Saturday night after the conference at the Dana Point Hennessey’s for a Groundswell Society benefit concert featuring Badfish (www.badfishcrew.com) and Alan Smithee (www.whoisalansmithee) presented by Quiet Communications and Viking Entertainment (www.vikingentertainment.net). Conference attendees get free admission, all others $10 at the door.

Also please join us Sunday as Bill Brooks, educator and docent, takes us on a walking tour of historic Doheny State Beach. Visit Doheny's Interpretive Center, which houses Orange County's largest public aquariums. See historic photos of Killer Dana nd find out what famous surfer shaped boards under the PCH bridge. Bring your board and surf Doheny's infamous breaks - River Mouth, Second Spot, Boneyard, and Gaylords (if it's big enough). Meet in the lobby of the Doubletree on Sunday the 9th at 9 a.m.
