Surf the World board game

Looking for something to do these holidays? Well, why not get your arms around this fun game? What a great idea! (Ed)

SURF THE WORLD

Need a gift for the surfer in your life?  Surf the World Enterprises has the perfect solution: a unique surfing board game created in Australia.  Surf the World has been designed by a surfer for surfers and is a perfect gift item for surfers of all ages.

The game features classic line-up photos of well-known breaks at Bells, Raglan, G-Land, Santa Catalina, Rincon, Mundaka and J-Bay by Steve Ryan, Joli, Corey Scott and Steve Bissell.

The aim of the game is to collect a ‘Wave Card’ from each of these spots.  Each card describes the break, conditions, local set-up, etc.  And of course, along the way around the board (and the world) there are classic surfing encounters with locals, dolphins, sharks, broken boards, shallow reefs, wipe outs…

There’s luck, strategy and cunning involved.  Not to mention the opportunity to test surfing knowledge via 150 surfing trivia questions which range from the very simple to the totally esoteric.  For example: What is another name for the West Australian spot known as the Camp of the Moon?

Tim Brady, game inventor, is an ex-Californian who grew up surfing the Hollister Ranch and much of the world in the 70s, 80s and 90s.  He now lives in Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia.  He says the game has become an instant favourite with his age group, both as a family game and as a collector’s item.  It also rates highly on the ‘filthy’ scale with grommets.

Besides Australia, Surf the World is also available in the UK and the USA.

It is a perfect gift item and will be available widely in surf stores and toy stores over the coming year.
