Key SafeGumby Lock has long been concerned about the number of people that leave their cars unsecured whislt surfing. That is why we developed the special Gumby Lanyard so that surfers could take a car key with them while surfing and know that the tension ball would keep it from coming off in big surf. We totally support the concept of Key Safe and commend its design. (Ed) The Key Safe by Cr8me Designs Car thefts and break-ins from beach car parks cost the insurance industry an estimated 16 million last year alone, with the majority being caused by surfers leaving keys in an unsecured location - "hidden on the vehicles." This has led to a major re-think by insurance companies to close the grey area regarding thefts and break-ins to motor vehicles using the cars own keys. This means they may no longer cover these instances, leaving surfers who drive to the beach in a difficult position. Surfers are seen as a soft target to both joy riders and pros alike, you only have to go any popular beach to see how easy it would bee to gain access to a surfer’s car by watching them as they hide there keys before they go for a surf. With virtually all modern cars now coming out with some form of electronic key or remote keys they have left the modern surfer with no alternative as these keys don’t like water and are very expensive to replace. Take the Holden Commodore Three button key for example - this will set you back between $300 and $350 dollars to replace and re-program after its been wet, and any luxury car around $500. Key Safe |
