The 17th DV8 Banana Malibu Classic was held on Saturday 9th February 2002 at Warilla Beach, Shell harbour. The choice of location proving to be the best on the South Coast, as an inspection of the rest of the beaches in the area, including The Farm, proved very disappointing.
There were some good lefts and rights for all riders and although the waves were small they gave the competitors plenty of opportunity to show their stuff.
